The Role

As Project and Communications Assistant, you support both APELL’s organisational activities and the implementation of EU funded projects. You contribute to the policy recommendations, and prepare APELL’s communication for external stakeholders, and inside the organisation. Your work is an important corner stone of the further development of APELL as an organisation and for the development of new opportunities for Open Source business in Europe, and beyond. Your responsibilities will include:

APELL and EU Project Support

  • Support the administration and coordination of EU-funded projects
  • Assist with the preparation, minutes-taking, moderation of, and follow-up for meetings, agendas, minutes, and other actions
  • Support preparation of deliverables, reports, and project documentation
  • Assist with dissemination and communication activities in the context of Horizon Europe and similar projects
  • Maintain project documentation and internal coordination tools
  • Support maintaining APELL’s network of contacts

Communications & Administration

  • Maintain APELL’s website, social media, and other communication channels
  • Prepare newsletters and communication materials
  • Support the organisation of events, webinars, and meetings
  • Assist communication with the APELL Advisory Board and member administration
  • Provide general administrative support to APELL’s operational activities

Who you are

Your experience and skills include:

  • A university degree or similar relevant qualifications and work experience
  • Familiarity with the EU and relevant policy, and affinity with the ICT or OSS business ecosystem
  • Some experience in advocacy or policy, ideally with relation to the ICT or OSS realm
  • Communication skills, in particular for relaying technical subjects to non-technical audiences
  • Fluency in written and spoken English; additional EU languages are a plus
  • The initiative, reliability, and the ability to organise your own work effectively
  • A commitment to APELL’s values of promoting an open, ethical, and inclusive digital future
  • Some experience in project management
  • Some experience in building and maintaining relationships with sponsors, partners, and stakeholders
