The Role
As EU Project Lead / OIS-HUB Work Package Lead, your primary responsibility will be leading APELL’s work in the OIS-HUB Horizon Europe project, including the work package led by APELL. You represent APELL, the main representation of Open Source business interests in Europe. On behalf of APELL’s member organisations, and their members, you are the point of contact to our partners and consortium colleagues in the OIS-HUB project and APELL’s other EU projects. Your work is an important corner stone for the development of new project opportunities and, therefore, the further development of APELL as an organisation. Your responsibilities will include:
EU Project Delivery
- Lead APELL’s work and Work Package responsibilities in OIS-HUB
- Coordinate deliverables, milestones, partners, and project outputs within assigned responsibilities
- Represent APELL in relevant consortium meetings and activities
- Contribute to APELL’s other EU funded projects where appropriate
- Work closely with APELL’s operational team and management board on EU project activities
EU Digital Policy & Open Source Ecosystems
- Lead OIS-HUB activities related to EU digital policy, regulation, and Open Source ecosystems in close coordination with the APELL management board
- Engage with Open Source companies, communities, policymakers, and other stakeholders, representing APELL’s mission and objectives
- Contribute to policy sandbox activities and translate practical Open Source challenges into policy recommendations
- Follow relevant EU regulation, including the CRA, AI Act, and Data Act, and relevant ongoing legislation
- Contribute to activities related to sustainable Open Source business models, standardisation, and European digital sovereignty
Project Development
- Identify new EU funding opportunities relevant for APELL, its members, and partners
- Support new EU project proposals and consortium development
- Build partnerships for future projects
Who you are
Your experience and skills include:
- A university degree or similar relevant qualifications and work experience.
- Experience in Horizon Europe, Horizon 2020, or comparable EU-funded projects
- Experience leading a Work Package or major international project activities
- Strong project management and coordination skills
- Understanding of EU digital policy and relevant technology regulation
- Knowledge of Open Source software, ecosystems, and business models
- Ability to work with companies, policymakers, research organisations, and technical communities
- Ability to analyse policy, market trends and adapt strategies to meet evolving industry needs
- Excellent written and spoken English; additional EU languages are a plus.
- Ability to take responsibility and work independently in an international consortium
